Introducing Our New Executive Director — Al Chapman

We are pleased to announce Al Chapman as the new Executive Director for Arts Habitat Edmonton. Over the past 30 years, Al has built a career as an innovative leader in project management, program development, governance, and events management. Al has a wealth of experience and knowledge in the arts, government, and not-for-profit sectors. Arts Habitat’s Board of Directors believes “his strong leadership, positive demeanor, and passion for the arts will guide Arts Habitat and this incredible team into the future.”

Al began his professional journey as a music educator in a small rural school division and then moved to the Alberta public sector where he worked in roles at the Arts Branch and Alberta Foundation for the Arts (AFA). Continuing to build his career, Al managed cultural projects for the Government of Alberta — Alberta at the Smithsonian, 2010 Cultural Olympiad, and Alberta House programming. Al had the opportunity to expand his experience to include managing infrastructure projects and large-scale academic programs with the Legislative Assembly Office and the University of Alberta.

Al is excited to bring his passion and experience to his new role at Arts Habitat Edmonton and work with the Arts Habitat team to continue to support our vision to cultivate dynamic, sustainable, and entrepreneurial artistic communities that thrive in the Edmonton area.

We are truly excited to welcome Al Chapman to the Arts Habitat team. We look forward to the innovative ideas and leadership he will bring to Arts Habitat Edmonton. Please join us in welcoming Al Chapman as he begins his journey with Arts Habitat Edmonton.
